The branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the dental pulp.
A Root Canal is a dental procedure to remove the dying nerve from the pulp chamber of the tooth. Once the diseased tissue has been removed it is replaced with an inert material.
Post and Core
A post and core is the second step after a Root Canal and is used in some cases to provide extra strength to larger teeth. Once the Root Canal has been completed, the top portion of the canal is cleaned, removing part of the inert material used to fill it. A post is then selected to fit the size of the canal and cemented in place.
For in-office wisdom tooth and single tooth extractions a consultation and x-rays are necessary before the removal of teeth. An appointment to have your wisdom teeth removed usually takes only an hour or two and is much less painless than you would think.
